Junior Associate - Internship

About Us:

Parity is a minority woman led equitable development company acquiring and rehabilitating vacant properties by the block, to create affordable home ownership and revitalize distressed neighborhoods. We're a mission-first organization, committed to economic justice and intersectionality. We prioritize home ownership as a tool to build multigenerational wealth, while also emphasizing development without displacement.

The Opportunity:

Parity is growing exponentially. We are looking for two junior associates to join us on a part-time unpaid basis. This opportunity is perfect for students who are interested in any of the following areas:

  1. Housing Development

  2. Economic Development

  3. Urban Planning and Architecture

  4. Social, Environmental, Economic Justice

  5. Startups and Entrepreneurship

As we are a small team, you will have a pivotal role and influence on the direction and development of the company. You'll learn about the mechanics of acquiring and rehabbing abandoned properties, including how to raise funds and oversee construction. While this is an internship role, it's our hope that our junior associates will go on to be our first full-time employees.

Roles & Responsibilities:

As a startup, our interns have free range to work on projects they find most interesting, or where their skill sets are most aligned. Some projects include but are not limited to:

Storytelling & Engagement

  • Marketing and creating unique content on the equitable development process

  • Building out our homebuyer pipeline, and working with our banking partner to prequalify buyers

  • Growing relationships and running engagement with stakeholders like non-profits, community organizations, community members, and strategic partners

  • Building out the company systems including website and customer databases

  • Creating materials and proposals for sponsorships, and strategic partnerships

Tactical & Operational

  • Drawing floor plans, renderings, and architectural designs for the construction process

  • Scouting and interviewing general contractors and subcontractors

  • Assisting with pre-development tasks like site assemblage, and due diligence documents

  • Writing funding and grant applications

  • Researching and drafting policy suggestions around anti-displacement and equitable development

We don't operate through the traditional system of "qualifications". Parity is more interested in your commitment to and passion for social justice and equitable development, rather than any coursework or degrees you've earned.

How to Apply:
